The W201 Evolution Register

The sixteenvalves of the W201 series concern an extraordinary series of cars of the eighties from Mercedes-Benz. The 190E 2.3-16 was not only the first model with 4 valves per cylinder, it was also developed for racing and was therefore active in the Deutschen Tourenwagen Meisterschaft DTM.

The regulations of this series however required a minimal volume of cars of 500 to homologate changes to the standard car. Therefore in 1989 Mercedes introduced 500 pieces of the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution to homologate larger engine capacity, bigger rims and more effective spoilers.
A year later followed the 190E 2.5-16 Evoluton II of which the spoiler as well back then as nowadays were provocating.
Even more then the conventional sixteenvalves the Evo's, which they are called by enthusiasts will be the first Mercedes cars from their era that have made it to classic.
But, where are these two times 500 pieces?
Some have lived their life on the streets, some in racing. We try to identify all Evo's. Therefore we ask you to register your car. Hopefully we succeed to find most of the cars back.
What do you have to do? Register your car on this site, with picture if possible. We check the car on "Matching numbers". Personal details and details of the car will be treated confidentially.

We present your car in the order it left the factory!
